Cambridge Moving Guide
Moving in Cambridge? You should know a few major pre-move tasks in advance to moving day. Before you choose a Cambridge moving company, you need to check with the building management company about their policy for Cambridge Movers.
Insurance
Today most Cambridge buildings require that Cambridge moving companies provide a COI (certificate of insurance), your building wants to make sure that your moving company has the appropriate insurances, in case the movers do damage to the building you are moving in or out. Also your building management will like to see that your movers have “Workers Comp Insurance”, in case one of the movers gets hurt during the move process. This way the mover is covered under the moving companies insurance.
Please Note:
When you ask your movers if they have insurance, and they say yes, please make sure that the insurance is in compliance with your buildings policy, before you choose any Cambridge Mover.
Parking Permits:
Parking permits is one of the biggest factors on saving money when you are moving in Cambridge. When you are getting parking permits for your moving company, you are making sure your movers have the fastest and shortest access to your front door. If you choose not to have parking permits, and your movers don’t have a place to park their moving truck, in most cases the moving truck will get a parking ticket, and the movers will add it to your bill. In the worst case the Cambridge moving company cannot do your move because the police will not allow them to park the truck in the front of your building, or maybe not at all. Parking permits can be arranged by your movers, or can be done by you. Your moving company must have a bond (insurance) with the city of Cambridge.Elevator Reservation:
The most important task in your Local Move Process is to reserve the elevators with your building manager for your Cambridge Movers. Your Cambridge Moving Company cannot do it for you, as they are not the building customer.Change Your Mailing Address:
Whether your move is permanent or temporary, you should change your address before your move date so that mail going to your old address will be forwarded.
